Associate Lawyer (5 plus year call)

We are a team of experienced trial lawyers having appeared at all levels of court in BC. We have a diverse practice in the areas of family law, civil litigation, ICBC insurance defence, and immigration law.

We are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and personalized attention to our clients. We seek an experienced lawyer who is eager to grow and develop their skills through collaboration within our diverse and supportive work environment.  

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and executing litigation strategy;
  • Managing a medium-sized file load;
  • Conducting research;
  • Drafting pleadings, applications, affidavits, and correspondence;
  • Preparing F8 Financial Statements;
  • Interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence;
  • Preparing for and attending at examinations for discovery;
  • Preparing for trial, including preparing questions for cross and direct examination;
  • Preparing for and attending at Judicial Case Conferences and Family Management Conferences;  
  • Attending at trial; and
  • Attending all levels of court.

Requirements:  

  • Lawyer with 5 plus years litigation experience.
  • Called to the Bar and licensed to practice in British Columbia.
  • Member of good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • Experience handling insurance defence and family law files is preferred.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, trust and integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong research skills and able to effectively navigate through complex issues.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Exceptional work ethic and client service oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Legal Administrative Assistant

Legal Administrative Assistant

We are a team of experienced trial lawyers having appeared at all levels of court in BC. We have a diverse practice in the areas of family law, civil litigation, ICBC insurance defence, and immigration law.

We are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and personalized attention to our clients. We seek a legal administrative assistant who is eager to contribute to a close-knit legal team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of established filing systems, including correspondence, reports, records, confidential files and B/F files and/or systems;
  • Some document production support for daily correspondence, pleadings and other document preparation;
  • File preparation and management;
  • Assist with booking tribunal / court and other hearing dates, communicate with registries;
  • Organize and assemble documents and books in support of tribunal and court hearings as required;
  • Liaise with legal assistants, paralegals, other lawyers and clients on file progress;
  • Other legal duties as required.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) Certificate program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a legal administrative assistant at a law firm or in house legal department, ideally within a litigation practice.
  • Minimum 1 year family law experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, trust and integrity.
  • Exceptional work ethic and client service oriented.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to follow instructions, work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage a variety of files simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with law firm case management software (ie. Clio) an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to develop innovative solutions in legal support tasks.
  • Able to work independently with a high degree of initiative and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information, and values working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, friendly, self-motivated, takes initiative and eager to learn.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift (9am - 5pm)
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person (*No work from home arrangement is available.)
